FR: Friday, February 17th, 2017Results from the "SPECIAL BACK TO GRASS ALL BEEF NEW CROP CALF/YEARLING ROUNDUP FEEDER CATTLE SALE" Headcount: 3,176 Results from the "SPECIAL BACK TO GRASS ALL BEEF NEW CROP CALF/YEARLING ROUNDUP FEEDER CATTLE SALE" Headcount: 3,176 Here this past Friday, we had the opportunity to sell some of the finest cattle the Midwest has to offer. The seats were full of buyers this past Friday, and the demand for the greener/medium flesched & properly vaccinated cattle sure showed. On a market level, the sale was a bit stronger in some areas, and steady in others. We were in for a real treat this past week, being the typical Wisconsin February is -30 and blowing snow; but rather we are seeing some spring like weather in the later stages of the Midwestern winter. That being said, we may still see a 24 inch snow fall, but is it possible we may have another spring like we saw 3 years ago; where cattle were out in the green grass starting in March? That would be a welcomed bonus to the past year, in which you good producers sure deserve; the possibility of really decreasing some feed costs way earlier than normal. On the latter, if we get some more white on the ground, we're all used to it and it will be business as usual, but seeing 55 on the temperature gauge sure has me a little more excited weather wise than I typically am this time of year J We continue to believe we're going to remain in a relatively steady/consistent market coming into grass season. We sure appreciate everything you good folks do, and from all your friends at Bloomington Livestock Exchange, we extend you all a big THANK YOU!!
